About Us - Meet The Team

Karen and her team offer a passionate approach to the daily training and care of the horses, who are experienced and confident about delivering the highest quality of care to the horses, ensuring they reach their full potential. At the yard its very important to have happy horses, who are given daily one to one attention, this enables us pick up on each horse's personalitiy, so training and routines can be adapted to suit the horse.

The horse always comes first at the yard, as they soon become part of the family.

Karen McLintock

Professional Trainer & Veterinary Nurse

Karen has trained (129) Winners, (134) 2nds, (119) 3rds and (125) 4ths to date.

Karen has been recognised, as a top trainer of bumper horses in the country and one of the top trainers at Hexham Racecourse.

Before Karen got the racing bug, she trained as a veterinary nurse in Edinburgh and worked as a lab technician in the psychology department of Edinburgh University.

It wasn't until Karen went to work for Don as an assistant trainer, and having her own horse Call Equiname (originally bought as a dressage horse!) who won at Musselburgh racecourse by 15 Lengths that she became hooked. Karen worked with Don for 9years before taking over the licence herself in February 2005.

Karen's favourite part of the job, is watching the progress of a young horse into a winning racehorse. Karen also enjoys sharing the pleasure of shouting a winner home and seeing the excitement on the owners faces.

Karen doesn't do favourite horses as they are "all my boys"

Karen started riding ponies at a very young age which took her into pony club and hunting with the Linlithgow & Stirlingshire Hunt to riding in point to points and competing in eventing.

Don Eddy

As well as been a successful racing man, Don is also a successful businessman. His career started in 1965 having had over 10 businesses to date. Don took his own racing permit in 1981 which changed to a full licence in 1987 which Karen took on in Feb 2005. Don had many winners himself.

Don's favourite horses to date are Bygones of Brid, Dunaskin and Call Equiname. The favourite part of the job for Don is "Winning"

When not racing Don likes to spend time on conservation and gardening.

Thomas Kindleyside

Assistant Trainer

Thomas joined the team in December 2017. Previously Thomas has worked 3 seasons at Nicky Richards and Lawneyhill Racing for 4yrs. Thomas rode 2 seasons point to pointing with 8 winners and 2nd in the Novice title from riding in 23 races.

Thomas's favourite horse is Weather Front (Sid).

His favourite part of the job is riding out and schooling.

Thomas has 6 horses of his own as well as dogs & ducks. In his spare time he likes to spend time with family & friends
